We are dedicated to creating a safe and compassionate environment for our patients, families and visitors. Below, you'll find key visitor guidelines to help ensure a smooth and supportive experience during your visit.
- Visiting hours: 8 am to 8 pm (three visitors per patient at a time).
- Overnight visitors: One visitor allowed after 8 pm with an Overnight Visitor pass.
- Visitor management: Photo ID required for check-in. Wear your visitor pass visibly at all times.
- Health and safety: Masks are encouraged but not required (mandatory for COVID-positive patient rooms). Wash hands frequently and avoid visiting if unwell.

Visiting Hours
We allow flexible visiting hours, but because our patients have different needs, we ask all visitors to be respectful and considerate of others while in the hospital. Visit this page for detailed information on Stony Brook Medicine’s visitation guidelines. While in the hospital, we ask that you speak quietly and avoid unnecessary noise. Those with a cold, sore throat or other communicable illness should delay visiting until they are well.
Smoking while on hospital property is prohibited.
Parking
A parking pass is available for each inpatient admission for $30 per pass and is valid throughout the inpatient stay for a maximum of 30 days from the date of purchase. The number of cards that may be purchased for each inpatient admission is unlimited. The pass will allow visitors access to the hospital garage only. The office is open:
Monday through Friday: 7:30 am to 8 pm
Saturdays: 2 pm to 6 pm
Sundays and holidays: 12 pm to 4 pm.

Dining
Stony Brook University Medical Center has two dining opportunities on Level 5 just off the main lobby. The Market Place Café is open from 7 am to 10:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Employees and visitors can choose fresh brick oven pizza, shaker salads, full hot meals, burgers from the grill and more. There is also a Starbucks in the main lobby.
In addition, the Skyline Deli is open Monday through Friday from 10:30 am to 3 pm. Freshly made Boar's Head Sandwiches are available as well as coffee, homemade bakery items, soft drinks and fast takes.

Rest is an important part of your treatment, so a limited number of visitors may be a valuable part of your recovery. We also recognize that family members are key participants in support, decision-making and care.
